Michael Taylor Gilmore grew up in Scottsburg, Indiana. He saw a gap in the market: great fence installers who could never close deals because customers couldn't afford $5,000–$15,000 upfront. Meanwhile, rent-to-own furniture stores were thriving by offering monthly payments on $500 couches.
The idea was obvious: apply the financing-first model to fence installation. Partner with established lenders (Hearth, Affirm, Afterpay, Wisetack, Klarna) so customers with any credit score — from 500 to 800+ — could get approved for monthly payments. Then build a transparent online tool where they could design their fence, see the real price, and apply for financing before ever picking up the phone.
